We're 100 episodes old! Ask Sympraxis Anything

As we mark the milestone of our 100th episode of Ask Sympraxis, it’s incredible to reflect on the journey we’ve embarked on since our first episode on April 20, 2020. Back then, the world was quite different, and in many ways, so was the landscape of technology. Over the years, Ask Sympraxis has grown, evolved, and adapted, much like the tech ecosystem we seek to demystify.

Our first question

Our inaugural question back in 2020 was, “Is there any preliminary or prescriptive guidance for dealing with guest users and supporting teams (both as the host system, and where your users are the guests of others)?” It’s fascinating to see that, four years later, this question remains as relevant as ever. Organizations continue to grapple with policies for guest users, balancing between being completely open or banning anyone outside the organization. Many organizations fall somewhere in the middle, often leveraging tools like Orchestry and ShareGate to manage these complexities. Additionally, the advent of multi-tenant configurations in Azure Active Directory, now part of Microsoft Entra ID, has provided new ways to manage user experiences across different tenants.

Microsoft Marketing strikes again - changes since 2020

The past four years have also seen significant changes driven by Microsoft’s evolving branding and product suite. Office 365 has become Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory has transitioned to Microsoft Entra ID, and Yammer is now Viva Engage. That is just the beginning of an ongoing list. If you’re interested in all the renames, you can visit a full list of product name changes. These changes reflect not just rebranding but, in some cases, also enhancements in functionality and user experience.

Among our most popular episodes, the discussion on migrating from Stream Classic stands out as the favorite. Close behind are our sessions on PnP Modern Search, which we frequently cover due to its versatility in creating search-driven solutions. External sharing in SharePoint Online and migrating file shares to SharePoint Online also rank high in popularity, showcasing the community’s ongoing interest in effective collaboration and data management strategies.

Guest Questions and Insights

In this centennial episode we also delve into guest questions, providing insights and solutions in a lively discussion. It’s these interactive sessions that make Ask Sympraxis special, fostering a sense of community and shared learning.

As we close this celebratory post, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has listened, participated, and contributed to Ask Sympraxis over the years. Your support and engagement have been instrumental in our journey. We look forward to continuing this adventure with you, bringing new insights and discussions every two weeks. Here’s to many more episodes and the ongoing exploration of the ever-evolving tech landscape!
